Easy ways to stay away from Diabetes

Diabetes is a condition when body’s sugar level goes above a certain level. Diabetes is not reversible in most cases and majorly impacts the lives of the patients and their family. We do not need to convince anyone that we should try our best to steer clear of Diabetes. Good news is, this can be done easily if we make some simple changes in our lifestyle.

1. Remain Active

Present lifestyle, work culture and delivery apps, have collectively ensured that we go out less. This has lead to an increase in a number of health issues like obesity, depression and diabetes. We need to counter this by finding ways to remain Active. It is highly recommended to at least invest 20-30 minutes everyday for some kind physical activity, like jogging, swimming, running, working out etc. Avoid spending long hour sitting or lying down.

Having height adjustable workstations will help you to intermittently work while standing up. Try to take in-office calls while walking.

2. Cut down on Sugar and Carbs

Refined sugar and carbs directly contribute to increased sugar levels and are the major cause for Diabetes. Cut down on the sources of Sugar and Carbs from your daily diet. Switch to complex carbohydrates and complex proteins like Oatmeals, cereal, Vegetables etc. Eat in small portions instead of a single heavy meal. This will help reduce sugar and insulin level in the body.

3. Increase water and Fibre intake

Consuming high fibre diet helps in reducing weight, keeps intestines healthy and prevents development of high sugar level in the blood. Replacing carbonated drinks containing high sugar concentration, with plain water or coconut water also significantly reduce risk of diabetes.
